Family Farm Holidays in Reading

If a glamping holiday in the Berkshire countryside is calling your name, then you simply must visit Bucklebury Reading Collection.

What to see and do in Reading

At the very end of the Kennet and Avon Canal, you will find the town of Reading. The once Saxon settlement has a rich history, which is scattered all over the Berkshire countryside. The first evidence of Reading as a settlement dates from the 8th century when it was a central trading and ecclesiastical centre during the medieval period. As a result, Reading is the perfect spot for history enthusiasts. You can discover more about the towns journey from medieval times to the present day at the Reading Museum.

A few minutes stroll will take you to the remains of Reading Abbey on the Southeast side of Forbury Gardens. A little further into the hills you will find the palatial country estate of Basildon Park. Get lost in the grand 18th century estate, or walk some of the 400 acres of the adjoining parkland. This is the perfect place to stroll, cycle your bike or go for a run and take in the country air.

The Reading Festival and so much more

Although the annual Reading Festival has cemented its place on the world map, Reading truly has so much more to offer. Apart from its access to the stunning Berkshire countryside, you will also find gems like Stanlake Park Wine Estate, just outside Twyford. It provides the perfect place to relax, take a tour and sample wine from one of the UK’s most successful wine producers. Beale Wildlife Park and Gardens by the River Thames is also a must see! There are a number of play areas for children and a wide range of wildlife and exotic animals that everyone can enjoy!
